ACR Data Science Institute's Chief Medical Officer Bibb Allen, MD, FACR, was interviewed on the Physics World Weekly podcast about the multi-society statement on the development and use of AI tools in radiology, highlighting the increasing need to monitor the use and safety of AI algorithms after they have been integrated into clinical practice.
Dr. Allen spoke about how the authors from five radiology societies (American College of Radiology, the Canadian Association of Radiologists, the European Society of Radiologists, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, and the Radiological Society of North America) argued in the research paper that AI can fulfil its promise to advance patient well-being if all steps — from development to integration in healthcare — are rigorously evaluated.
