Value Proposition


T2* cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is an effective and robust non-invasive tool for tissue iron measurement. An algorithm that provides myocardial T2* values based on the 17-segment model would improve clinical workflow.

Narrative(s)


Patients with siderosis with suspected myocardial involvement undergo T2* mapping of the heart. Normally, T2* maps are analysed by placing ROIs in the myocardium. The algorithm should be able to fully automate the segmentation and T2 fitting process, without any user input.



Workflow Description


  1. Patient undergoes T2* mapping of the heart, that is usually done in 3 short axis slices

  2. Algorithm receives inputs:

    1. Imaging dataset

  3. Algorithm executes:

    1. Automatically segments LV myocardium based on the 17-segment model

    2. Calculates T2* using the known fitting algorithm

    3. Displays segmental T2* on a bulls-eye diagram and indicates pathologic values (<20ms)
